When it's time to get away from the daily grind, the aptly named Ford Escape is more than capable. Its handsome, comfortable cabin seats five, with plenty extra room in back for cargo. Tech and safety features leave the competition in the dust, but the Ford Escape excels in the capability category. Here are two of our Oneonta Ford LLC team's favorite features.
Auto Start-Stop Technology
Auto Start-Stop enhances the Ford Escape's capability features in an interesting way. The tech comes standard with two of the Ford Escape's four available engines, namely the 1.5-liter and 2.0-liter EcoBoost. Auto Start-Stop maximizes fuel efficiency by temporarily shutting down the engine when you bring the Ford Escape to a stop, say, at an intersection. The engine starts back up automatically when you shift your foot from brake to gas.
All-Wheel Drive
Tackle tall hills and tough terrain without a glitch thanks to the Ford Escape's all-wheel drive with AWD Disconnect. The latter feature disconnects the rear driveline when AWD becomes unnecessary. As a result, the Ford Escape maneuvers on its front wheels alone, which reduces energy demands on the drivetrain and overall vehicle drag.
