The Ford Escape might belong to the class of small SUVs, but it is a car with plenty of power. The Escape comes in four trim levels. Most have the same three-cylinder base engine, but you can choose to get additional power with some of the higher-end models as well. The Ford Escape is available in a regular and a hybrid powertrain. If you get the engine with turbo power, all-wheel drive is the Ford's standard drivetrain.
Starting off the power options for the Ford Escape is a 1.5L engine that has three cylinders. This engine produces up to 181 HP in top power, and it cranks out up to 190 LB-FT in torque. The base engine is matched to an eight-speed automatic for the transmission. An engine that is available for the SE trim but standard on the Titanium is a hybrid powertrain with a 2.5L displacement. This engine produces a total of 200 HP. A continuously-variable automatic transmission comes with this engine. The top engine is a turbo four-cylinder capable of 250 HP.
